COASTGUARD WHANGAMATA CALLOUTS
06 Nov. Two hunters trapped on a sea-cliff north of Tairua. Whangamata Volunteer Coastguard provided radio communication assistance during the rescue operation between LandSAR and the Pauanui/Tairua CG unit CRV.

21 Nov. Power-boat 4m overturned on the Bowentown harbour entrance the previous evening late pm. 3 P.O.B. 2 persons made it safely ashore. A call was made early AM from NZ Police for the tasking of CRV GJ Gardner Ranger to assist in the search for the 3rd and missing fisherman. At daylight GJ Gardner was launched and proceeded to the search area co-operating along with HMNZS Taupo, 1 Tauranga and 2 Waihi Coastguard CRV units, 2 helicopters and 1 fixed wing aircraft. Around mid-day a CG Whangamata relief boat-crew took over from the earlier crew. As all searches being unsuccessful, all units were stood down later that afternoon and CRV GJ Gardner Ranger returned to Whangamata Coast Guard base.

30 Nov. Power-boat 5.6m. Engine failure. 3 P.O.B. Alderman Islands. Whangamata CRV GJ Gardner Ranger was tasked to assist at 2105 hrs. GJ Gardner Ranger located and tow assisted the launch back to a mooring in Tairua Harbour then returned back to Whangamata with arrival at base at 2330 hrs.
