25 Aug 18. Coastguard Eastern Region contacted the Whangamata CG Duty Officer of a 4m power-boat with 4 POB and 1 dog near the Caves requiring assistance. A nearby Vessel of Opportunity ( VOoP ) upon hearing the initial call for assistance contacted Coastguard Whangamata and advised that they being of sufficient size and experience would assist the target vessel. The VoOP tow assisted the vessel to the Tairua boat ramp. . A special thankyou to WEIGHT & SEE the VoOP for their assistance. Total Coastguard man-hours 2hrs.
