JUNE 2021 CALLOUTS

In June the radio was manned for 115 hours during which time the

operators handled 392 calls. Most of these were trip reports. It is

pleasing to note that the majority of vessels using our service have and

use call-signs.

The rescue vessel G J Gardner Rescue was needed for four callouts where

14 people were assisted safely back to shore.

4 June - A 6 metre power boat with 4 people on board which was unable to

start its engine near the Caves was towed to Whangamata

5 June was the day that an 8.5 metre launch with 4 occupants which had

lost power needed to be towed to the Whangamata Marina.

18 June the rescue vessel was called to a boat unable to start its motor

north of the Alderman Islands. The engine was started with the

assistance of the rescue crew and the boat escorted to the entrance to

the Tairua harbour.

24 June the Coastguard Crew assisted the Harbourmaster in refloating a

vessel in the harbour.
