JUNE 2020 CALLOUTS
All assisted vessels and persons on board were returned safely to port.
01 June Launch. 12m. Capsized on harbour mooring. CRV GJ Gardner Rescue was tasked to assist but could not safely attend the incident due to storm conditions prevailing at the time.
Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 6 hrs.
14 June Yacht. 9m. 1 POB. Near Hauturu Island. The yachts skipper requested possible assistance from CRV GJ Gardner Rescue to enter the Whangamata harbour entrance. After being placed on standby CRV GJ Gardner Rescue was stood down when the yacht was able to enter and berth at Whangamata under its own power.
Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 7 hrs.
15 June Power boat. 5m. 2 POB. Engine failure. Near the Dogger Bank.
CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to the Whangamata boat ramp.
Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 13 hrs.
28 June Power boat. 5.5m. 2 POB. Engine failure. Near Slipper island.
CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to the Whangamata boat ramp.
Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 11 hrs.
