April was a much quieter month for the local Coastguard volunteers with the approach of cooler weather. The radio was manned in Whangamata for 262 hours with 1014 calls.
The rescue vessel G J Gardner Rescue towed one boat back to Whangamata which suffered from mechanical issues. The local unit was also able to assist the Harbour Master in pumping out a vessel which was taking on water at its mooring.
