DECEMBER 2019 CALLOUTS

All assisted vessels and persons on board were returned safely to port.

29 Dec Launch. 8.0m. Electrics failure. 2 POB. South side of Slipper Island..

CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to the Whangamata Wharf.

Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 18 hrs.

VHF Radio Call signs.

For safety reasons all boaties are encouraged to obtain a call sign for their VHF radio. To get a call sign simply go to boatingeducation.org.nz and complete your details and the call sign is allocated automatically.

Trip Reports.

In the interests of safety at sea, Coastguard Whangamata encourages all boaties, be they Coastguard members or not to file a Trip Report (TR) prior to leaving harbour. Trip Report details made shall include the vessels name and call-sign, the number of people on board (POB) and also if there are children and/or dogs on board, the vessels destination and estimated time of return (ETR) On the return to harbour contact Coastguard Radio and advise of being safely back in harbour and to close off the vessels Trip Report.
