All assisted vessels and persons on board were returned safely to port.

08 Jan Launch. 7.5m. Engine failure. 2 POB. Home Bay - Slipper Island.

CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to a Whangamata berth.

Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 16 hrs.

12 Jan Power boat. 5m. Engine failure. 4 POB. South of Slipper Island.

CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to the Whangamata ramp.

Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 9 hrs.

12 Jan Launch. 8m. Engine failure. 2 POB. In Whangamata harbour.

CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to a Whangamata marina berth.

Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 3 hrs.

18 Jan Launch. 8m. Engine cooling failure. 3 POB. Near Dogger Bank.

CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to a Whangamata marina berth.

Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 14 hrs

26 Jan Yacht. 9m. Engine failure. 2 POB. In Whangamata harbour.

CRV GJ Gardner Rescue responded and tow assisted the vessel to a Whangamata swing mooring.

Total Whangamata Coastguard involvement 5 hrs

Trip Reports.

In the interests of safety at sea, Coastguard Whangamata encourages all boaties, be they Coastguard members or not to file a Trip Report (TR) prior to leaving harbour. Trip Report details made shall include the vessels name and call-sign, the number of people on board (POB) and also if there are children and/or dogs on board, the vessels destination and estimated time of return (ETR) On the return to harbour, contact Coastguard Radio and advise of being safely back in harbour and to close off the vessels Trip Report.
